Writer's Workshop
_When we work on writing, I have students use a series of procedures or steps.
These steps are part of our Writing Workshop which is an ongoing process for my students. They go through planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing their writing.
This means my students will be at various stages of the writing process at any one time. That makes the period dynamic and exciting.
Collaboration with peers and myself is inherent in this workshop.
During this lesson time, I also include a short 5-10 minute mini-lesson that focuses on an area of need such as noun-verb agreement.

Below is a short slideshow with one child's recent writer's workshop.
For brainstorming most of my students like to fill in a graphic organizer like this student did.
