Math

As with all my subjects, it's important that students have fun while they are learning and also see how their math connects to their own lives.

My current school uses a series titled Saxon Math.  This is a spiral series in which lessons continuously build.

We level the students based on abilities.  I strive to push my students to the heights of their abilities.

If this means teaching from 3 different textbooks for 3 different students, than I'm all for it!

Science in Inquiry
Science, in my opinion, is best taught through inquiry based lessons.

_ These lessons typically involve students gathering, collecting and interpreting data followed by drawing logical conclusions.

By doing this, students actively develop their understanding of science by combining scientific knowledge with reasoning and thinking skills.

It is a monstrous abuse of the science of biology to teach it only in the laboratory---Life belongs in the fields, in the ponds, on the mountains, and by the seashore."

Social Studies in Inquiry

Social Studies takes on a flair in my classroom.  We go beyond simply reading our textbooks and completing worksheets.

I try to immerse my students in not only the future but the past.

Our lessons  help students understand human interactions that occurred in the past, are occurring now, and that are likely to occur in the future.
