School Community Activities

Class Trip to Scotland

Class trip near and far are always memorable!
I got to take some of my students to Scotland for a trip.  This was an amazing opportunity for students to practice their English and show their skills as global citizens.

DARE

This is a program that my 6th graders would go through in America.  It stands for Drug Awareness Resistance Education.

Accelerated Reader

This is part of our junior high library that is in the classroom.
Accelerated Reader or AR was a school-wide reading program.

Upon completion of reading a book, students then took a computer generated test and earned points.

These points were accumulated and spent at the AR Store.

Coaching

Coaching has been a wonderful experience for me.  It has enabled me to get to know other students in my school community with whom I might otherwise not interact.

I have been lucky enough to coach basketball, cross-country running and badminton.

Cafeteria Service

Community service is an important component of my curriculum.

One way my class tried to give back at our school is by volunteering to work in the cafeteria.

For one week a month, students gave up their recess and helped out others here in our own school community.
